Ericksonian hypnosis

L'hypnosis Ericksonian therapy initiates a phase of deep relaxation that leads the patient into an altered state of consciousness, giving him or her easier access to the unconscious and its hidden resources.

This altered state of consciousness is somewhere between meditation and sleep, and enables us to overcome the barriers of the conscious mind and work directly on the subconscious.

How Ericksonian hypnosis works

A concrete example is to imagine a car. The conscious being the driver and the engine being the subconscious. This car is running, but a part is constantly squeaking in the engine, generating unpleasant vibrations and hindering engine efficiency. To change this part, you need to stop, open the hood, replace the part in the right place and then drive off with a clearer mind.

In hypnosis, it's all the same. We stop with relaxation and open the mind's hood by entering a state of altered consciousness. There, using suggestions and metaphors, we imprint new, healthier patterns and reflexes on top of those that cause suffering.

There is no danger in Ericksonian hypnosis, the patient always retains control of his or her actions. What's more, the brain has certain " safety features "This prevents dangerous suggestions from being imprinted on the subconscious, even in an altered state of consciousness.
